4 Freedom Podcast
Podcast home plus a cigar e-commerce storefront for an independent pastor. Episodes, subscribe links, and product pages on one platform.

The 4-Freedom Podcast exists to speak to people who came out of Independent Fundamental Baptist legalism — to expose it, to help those who were hurt by it, and to point them back to grace. Its anchor is Galatians 5:1: "For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery."
It also sells cigars. That combination is the interesting design problem.
Two products, one site
The host is an independent pastor with a podcast and a small cigar line — four blends, sold individually and as a sampler. Those could have been two websites. Two websites means two bills, two deploys, two content workflows, and one of them quietly dying.
They are one site instead, and the sequencing does the work: mission first, episodes second, cigars third. A visitor who came for the podcast is never sold to before they understand what the show is. A visitor who came for cigars scrolls past the mission and finds the storefront exactly where they expect it.
The cigars are framed as what they are on this show — something you smoke while having a long conversation about freedom in Christ — rather than as an unrelated revenue stream bolted onto a ministry.
Episodes stay current on their own
Episodes sync from the podcast RSS feed on a schedule. Publishing to the podcast host publishes to the website. There is no second step, which means there is no second step to forget.
Each episode gets a page with player, duration, publish date, and show notes.
What we did with the transcripts
Every episode is transcribed, and then the transcripts are treated as a real content library rather than an accessibility checkbox.
- Transcripts are chunked and embedded for search that works on meaning, not keywords.
- Topics are detected and tagged automatically, then organized into a taxonomy with its own browsable topic pages.
- Corrections are supported, because automated transcription mishears theological vocabulary and proper names constantly, and a show about doctrine cannot ship "Galatians" as "Galicians."
- Search analytics show what listeners look for, which has directly shaped which resource pages got written.
Those resource pages — plain answers to the questions people search for, like what Galatians 5:1 actually means — exist because the search log said people were asking.
The storefront
Four blends, each with its own product page, wrapper and body description, and package-size selection, plus a four-pack sampler for people who have not picked a favorite. Required nicotine warnings are handled properly in the footer and on product pages.
The admin side
Behind Better Auth: episodes, topics and taxonomy, contact messages, admins and invitations, analytics, cache controls, and site settings. The host runs the show himself, so anything that required a developer to operate would have gone stale.
What it runs on
Next.js 16 and React 19, Convex for data, scheduled jobs, and vector search, Better Auth for admin access, Tiptap for editing show notes, Tailwind for styling. Deployed on Vercel.
